I'm about to start internship after several years of nursing shifts alongside medical school. Most of what I know about hospital pay came from checking my own payslips against the award — and finding the two didn't always agree.
This site exists because clinicians deserve the actual numbers. What an intern takes home in NSW, or what a night shift pays a nurse in Victoria — it's public information, but it's scattered across enterprise agreements, award schedules and ATO tables. Here it's in one place, and every figure is sourced.
How the figures are produced
Pay rates come from the current public hospital enterprise agreements and awards in each state and territory. Tax and HECS/HELP use the ATO's current thresholds. Source documents are linked on every page, along with last-verified dates. The calculators give estimates — your roster, allowances and employer will move the real number — and nothing here is financial or tax advice.
Corrections
Awards change, usually around the start of the financial year, and I roll the site forward when new instruments are published. If a figure looks wrong or out of date, let me know through the contact page. I'd rather fix it than have it sit there.
